On my 1500 classic, I had filled the tank whilst on the kick stand
to within an inch or so of the top of the hole,
Ran a total of 108 miles before she quit, switche to reserve
stopped to get fuel and it took little over 3 gallons
this sound about right on a new motor?

Gas Mileage

Dave,

Bikes are different on gas mileage. Every couple of times you fill up the tank, set your odometer to zero...then when you hit reserve make a note of what the mileage is...After a couple of times you should know how much mileage you will get. Macks bike gets between 50 and 70 mph using premium gas. Variance is how you ride, stop and go, open highway, and wind conditions.

We always burn premium gas (93 octane) in the bikes they run much better. My 750 just got tuned up so I am recalculating the mileage on it.

Sounds about right. The mileage will change as you break the motor in. I was putting about three gallons into my 1600 whenever the gas light came on. Now I don't pump the gas as quicky and sometimes I'll get four gallons in before it hit the bottom of that thing.

I recall that I was getting about 115 to 120 on my tank before needing to switch to reserve on my motor early on. Now with 4500 + miles i'm getting 130 to 135. I think it'll streach out the more it breaks in.

How big is the tank opn your FI model? I have a 4.2 gal with a 1 gal reserve. No way can I get that many miles on 3 gallons of gas

5 gallons, no reserve.

i get 32 to 35 mpg on mine...depends on how im driving...city,hiway or just plain havin fun with tha teenagers round here :twisted:
