So I got a 2021 Versys 650 and put on some Givi crash bars for protection, part number TN4114.

Last week I found out how "protected" the bike really is, and the results are not impressive.

After a fall, scratched the upper fairings and almost broke the turn signal, not good for the 170EUR payed on those protections.

No-name protections from ebay provide more protection than big brand names, like Givi.

Got to deal with Givi customer "support" as well, which is absolutely none, there is no difference between buying from Givi and buying from a dark alley seller.

While it is heartbreaking to see the damage to your Versys, I don't see how the fault lies with Givi.

Have you seen bike engines damaged in accidents? I haven't.

Yes, I have seen lots of engine damage from accidents. When a bike slides down on its side the damage can range from scratches on the engine to broken engine cases.

If you look at the market, bike protections are marketed as "engine guards" or "frame sliders" and not as "fairing guards".

If you want to hide behind semantics it is your choice, just remember it for the time when following a crash the only thing remaining is the engine.

Givi protections for the Versys 650 not good, especially for the price.

Semantics? Givi and I are hardly hiding behind semantics. Givi advertised the product for what it was designed for, to protect your engine. This is what I said at the outset.

Look I understand you are upset at the damage to your bike, but Givi is not to blame. Personally, I don't buy any protection for my bikes. I rely on my 50+ years of riding motorcycles, to not fall off. If I do drop the bike, I know exactly who to blame...me.

And I am ok with that.

Let me put it this way:

This is what the Givi TN4114 fails to protect on the Versys 650.

If I known this beforehand then I would have chosen a different product.

I am not sure what you expected but short of encasing the entire fairing in a cage there is no way to protect the fairing in the event of an accident. Never has been and never will be. Engine guards are just that. You say you have never seen an engine damaged, I suggest you have not seen the results of many accidents. I myself smashed the engine casings when I decided to part company with a Suzuki GT750 many moons ago and the other day I was in a repair shop looking at the casings damage to several bike that turned up for repair. I dont see that Givi has misrepresented its product at all.
