Good aftermarket seat for Mean Streak?

7879 Views 8 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  ipscshooter
I've been thinking about getting an aftermarket seat for my Meanie (just 'cos they look cool, not because the stock seat is uncomfortable). Has anybody put a new seat on their, and if so, what kind, and how do you like it? I'm interested in comments on how it affects your riding position, how comfortable it is to sit on, and how it looks on the bike.

Thanks for any input!

I like the stock seat too. It's soft and comfy right off the show room floor. But when I sit in it for hours at a time, I get the monkey butt. I bought the Mustang Vintage Wide with backrest and passenger pillion. Usually just run the solo, as I don't have a passenger very often. It seems hard at first but after a few hundred miles, you can feel it breaking in and it's quite comfortable on long hauls.
I've sat on both Mustang and Corbin seats on the Mean Streak. I think the Corbin sets a little lower and just a bit farther back than the Mustang seat. I have the Corbin Young Guns on my 04 M/S and Mustang Wide Vintage on my 01 Nomad. Have about 31K on the Nomad seat and love it. Only have 5K on the Streak but I am totally satisfied with both seats. This is the 3rd Mustang seat I have had. I just prefered the seating position of the Corbin on the Streak. Good Luck with your choice, I don't believe you can go wrong with either seat. John

I am considering a new seat after a 250 mile ride last week. The stock is ok for around town, but I get "monkey butt" too after an hour or so.

I am hearing a lot of good things about the Mustang Vintage Wide seat. My question is how does the passenger pillon look on the Streak? Does it hang over the edge of the fender and compromise the styling of the bike?

Thanks for your help.
It doesn't look bad I guess, but I don't leave it on all the time, only when I have a rider. It's not streamlined like the stock seat, but then, it's actually meant for someone to sit on it in some kind of comfort.

That was kinda my take on it from comparing pix of the two. I think I will order the seat and bib. If I think I'm going to take a passenger, it's easy to add the pillon. May even switch back to the stock occasionally for grins. :) 8)

Thanks for the input.
I ended up ordering a High End Raven seat. According to reports I've read, it puts you about an inch lower and an inch closer to the bars. I don't ever carry two up, so I don't need the pillion seat, and I want to keep the streamlined look.

Unfortunately, the seat is on backorder until July 13. :x
Do you have a website for the High End Raven seats?
