Well its a sad thing to do...
I was on a group ride today. This was a newbie friendly group ride, and as such out pace was the speed limmit. I was the 2nd rider in the pack (since I was one of the ones that was familiar with the route).
I was in a right hand turn when out of nowhere a dog comes running across the rd. I swerved to avoid this medium sized dog, but my front end slid, slid so much that I could not catch it (even though I nocied it and tried to correct it)... I low sided, I let go of the bike, slid across the pavement about 40 feet or so, and ended up on the other side of the road at the embankment where I hit it and started spinning. out of the corner of my eye I saw the back weel of my bike lift up...
I then tumbeled to a stop. I then checked myself, to make sure I was ok...
I sat up and the other people from the ride had now stopped and where running up to me... I lifted my thumbs telling them I was allright. Soon after I started mooving, arms, legs, neck, back... everything was ok. Infact hours after the crash, I am only sore on my back.
I had crashed going 40 mph on a 40mph rd... I think it was because of an oil spot, and high pressure on the front tire that caused me to fall. I didn't think about my set up, and well I gess I was riding too fast with the set up I had and the conditions of the road.
now my bike is in pretty bad shape. unridable. with important parts bent.
I gess I am happy cause I am still walking. I was wearing a riding jacket, pants, boots gloves and a full face helmet. the gear did its job. I don't even need a band aid!
