Hi. I am just finishing off a GPZ 1100 carburettor conversion project, custom build. The engine runs well with the carbs (and has done for 25 years or so) but have now done away with the tired old loom and started from scratch, as most of it is unnecessary anyway, for what is actually needed. I have completed a loom, that I think will work, but wondered if there are any electricians on here who would look over the diagram for me and check it out before I try it out? I can upload a wring diagram of the new loom, if there is anyone on here who replies. Thanks in advance, all the best. Cheers

We have electricians, electronics technologists and a whack of folks with electrical experience but to render an opinion on an entire wiring harness might be a tad challenging. But I will leave it up to them. Post away with your diagram.

What might be more helpful, is if you describe what you eliminated. I assume you still want the bike to be street legal, so all lights remain? Also helpful would be to know the year of your bike.

Great, thanks for your reply. Hopefully someone is up for taking a look. The bike is a ZX1100A / GPZ1100 Unitrak - 1983 - 85 A1 A2 A3. I will upload the diagram when there are any takers. It is a simple, basic wiring diagram, (possibly applicable to many motorcycles), road legal, with lights, without indicators (at the moment), but, I think, perfectly fine for running the motorcycle. (I will add neutral light switch, idiot lights and indicators and anything else once the bike is running). I have used the original IC igniter and rectifier, (which I don't want to fry; being the main reason for this post), and utilised a 1995 (GPZ1100E) fusebox. I have used the GPZ110A factory manual, (including 1100R lighting circuit), in conjunction with the 1995 manual for the fusebox, (although not really relevant to the diagram). I would just like someone who knows their electrical stuff to look over it and say whether, in theory, it would work, or if there are fundamental problems / errors. Thanks again. Fingers crossed. Could be a really interesting thread for many GPZ1100 owners as it completely eliminates the DFI and relevant components. Cheers
