I rode in a poker run yesterday for the benefit of ST. Judes Children's Hospital. It was sponsered by a former employer and I wanted to ride and what better reason than for the kids? Anywho, at some point a wasp found its way to my fuel tank down next to my leg. It got me while I was in a curve. A fairly deep one. I gotta tell ya, it's hard to maintain concentration when yer getting poked in the leg! I made it to the next stop before I had to take care of it. Lesson here: make sure you have a first aid kit that has bee sting stuff in it. Thank the stars I am not allergic to them, except the pain. :)

Those wasps leave a nasty sting! Last summer I was riding with my full-faced helmet. All of a sudden I noticed a yellow-jacket on the inside of my face shield crawling up the shield and too close to my nose and face for comfort. I slowly raised my faceshield and it found its way out before anything too ugly ocurred!

allergic

my father is allergic and found a yellow jacket buzzing by his ear inside his open face. without a second thought he took the helmet off and whipped it into someone's yard. then he stopped and went back and picked it up, so he could throw it away when he got home !!! didn't get stung though.

I have to tell about my passanger. I picked my bike up at the dealer and had a 50 mile ride home. Going down the road I saw a butterfly float into my path and it hit my leg. No biggie, didn't give him a second thought. We got home and started checking out the new bike. Opened the tool storage compartment and out flies the butterfly.

Another run in with a yellow jacket. I hit this one and he rode with me all the way to school. When I got off the bike it stung me twice. On the collarbone. I'm really glad it was so considerate of the situation and waited till we weren't moving anymore. I wouldn't have made it to school then. LOL that hurt!

nice to see no one did anything foolish. i was painting a house with a friend of mine the other day. he was painting the gables at about 20ft. high. attic vent has a wasps nest he disturbed. i guess one really doesn't think where they are when such a surprise happens. this is my worst fear, he jumped and broke his ankle. i can't say i would have done different. fulltilt.

A friend of mine told me a story about a trip he took in his truck to visit a mutual friend of ours. Despite the fact it was a cool day, he had the windows down while driving on the highway. He was crusing along when he felt a buzzing under his open jacket.

He immediately though a bee or similar bug had gotten in and was surely going to sting him. He saw the coast was clear, quickly pulled off the side of the road and hopped out of the truck. He said he must of looked like a madman to those passing by, jumping about, patting himself down - trying to get rid of the bee.

Suddenly, he felt the buzz again, and he slapped his hand to the spot to kill whatever it was. When he did, he felt......his pager.

He had forgotten it was in the inside pocket of his coat. He normally kept it on beep mode, but it had somehow gotten switched to vibrate. Our friend had been paging him, wondering why he was running so late.

Last Sunday I was riding with another guy. He was in front when "something" went into his jacket and began stinging him. He hit the brakes so fast I almost rode up his tail pipe. He got to the side of the road and was digging inside of his jacket but never found the culprit. It's getting to be that time of year so be careful out there!

That's wierd, I was mowing my lawn last year when out of nowhere this helmet comes flying along and hits me in the head. Don't remember much after that. lol.

thats a good point Whiste, especially if any of us are out riding around farm fields, farmers pay bee keepers to put their bees in the fields to pollinate the crops so if you see hives in a field, be careful because there are going to be bee's in the air

Yeh, I have had enough of shysters lately. We just finished shelling out way too much $$$ to have our business incorporated. I need a lawyer to sue my lawyer for pain and suffering.
