Helmet problem - full face helmets make me sleepy....

On a recent two day trip I tossed a full face helmet in my trunk just in case I got in a hard rain, normally I wear a half-helmet when required by law. Never wore a full face helmet much before when riding, just have one for others to borrow when riding.....and for the occasional 25 degree "I gotta get on the road" winter ride.

I did get in a rain so I stopped and put it on.

I didnt go 5 miles before I started head bobbing like crazy. Opening the visor made woke we up some but made the whole point moot. The complete lack of noise just put me into a trance.....then it was sleepy time.

I had to put my half helmet on and just suck it up.

That **** helmet 'bout killed me (insert ant-helmet propaganda here)....

Anyone else have this problem........or Im a just border line narcoleptic.

My full face helmet will do the same thing under the right circumstances. I find that if I get too cozy on long straight roads I have the same problem.
Yeah I was just completely isolated from the road, the bike....like setting in a complete dead silent room watching everything fly by a window. Once I took the helmet off and I could hear the wind, the motor, the radio etc I was instantly fine.

Guess Im back to my half helmet or I might try a 3/4 with a face shield....might not be as "isolating".

Never had that problem myself (Shoei RF1000 and, when I have them, ear plugs)...even coming back home late at night (100 mile commute on pretty much straight highway). Happens occasionally in the truck...but never on the bike.
I was going to mention that he shouldn't try ear plugs the way that you and I both do (we have the same helmet too BTW).
