You're shopping for all the wrong reasons. There is no "best helmet" except for the one that fits you properly and that you can wear all day without discomfort.

+1

Make sure you go to a store and try on several different helmets. Every manufacturer shapes and sizes their helmets differently. I wear an XL in one helmet, and a xxl in another...I personally love the modular helmets, since I wear glasses, and find it almost impossible to put a normal full face helmet on and get my glasses on. But I never would have known this if I hadn't tried them on first.

@kawasam my best advice on helmets is to go to the store and try them on and find one that fits properly.
Each MFG makes them slightly different in shape and not all sizes are the same. Ignore the price tag.
There's no price you can put on safety and your head. I've crashed more than once, dirt, street etc. (not my fault btw)
I can tell you without a doubt a helmet is worth it's weight in gold any day.

I'm always amazed at people who will spend thousands on mods to go fast but cheap out on a helmet.

But to answer your question I like SHOEI helmets as they fit my head.
But I've had Fulmer helmets as well.

If you order a helmet, check their return policy. If you order from Bike Bandit and it doesn't fit, you pay shipping to return it and it's expensive. If you buy from Dennis Kirk, they will pay return shipping if it doesn't fit. I learned the hard way.

I got a Bell Qualifier DLX for Christmas. I'm really pleased with its fit, weight, and airflow. I had to get a size bigger than what I measured for. The best part is it comes with a Transitions visor so I never have to worry about carrying an extra visor. It changes quickly and gets quite dark.

Yep, I wish that there were a local store which stocks helmets for me to support as well, but the nearest one is two hours distant, and they have gold rush-type prices.
We have a shop here called Classic Leathers. They sell jackets, chaps, rain gear, and other motorcycle accessories. The guy who owns it is a super great person. He also sells helmets, so that's where I get mine.

If you order one on line, be aware that some outfits like BikeBandit won't cover return shipping if it doesn't fit. Dennis Kirk, Inc will pay for return shipping!!!

I have an Arai, and an Icon Airmada. The Arai is a racing grade helmet, I just recently got the Icon Airmada. The Icon is the better value, it does not have the quality or performance of the Arai, but it does perform well. If you are going to sport race above 100 mph go with something like the Arai, if you are going to ride 80 to 130 mph max the Icon or something like it will work fine.
