Ginki.

I hope you had a chance to ride this weekend. Mack and I left the kids at home and had a sunset ride on the two bikes this evening. It was really peaceful and the sunset was all pink and blue.

The weather has been dry and partly cloudyor clear for several weeks now. It has been getting cooler at night and in the morning, but it has been great riding weather. Gas just went up again, so I will probably start riding the bike to work more often.

Going to get a windsheild for my bike and am looking for a good pair of winter riding gloves.

Ride Sane Ride Safe,

Heather

I'm a sincere "newbie" to motorcycling. Turned 46 this summer. Hubby is a motorcycler from his teenage years; I never rode (my father forbade them, he hated motorcycles...). Hubby got back into riding, so this summer I signed up for the MSF course and actually passed! Started out on a dual purpose Suzuki DR200 SE (one of the only dirt bikes I can actually climb on and touch ground from :D ) . Have lots of dirt roads right around town (more dirt than pavement, actually) and have been having lots of fun.

In one of our many trips to dealerships I "tried on" a Kawasaki Vulcan 500 and instantly fell in love. Guess what? Hubby bought it for me as a surprise -- literally I came home from work one day and there it was. Having a blast.

NinjaGirl, thanks for the info on picking up a bike. I darn near dropped the thing the other day trying to get going from a steep hill and turning left at the same time, not a good combination and I stalled it. When grabbing the brake (I know, I know, never grab the front brake  ) the bike nearly tipped over. I had to wait until hubby came back down the hill to rescue me. Luckily the traffic wasn't too busy and it is a country road, but...

Anyway, other interests - I am a custom dressmaker, specializing in wedding gowns, bridal party, etc. as well as a part-time estate planning/ probate paralegal. I love classic movies from the '30's and '40's with Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Gene Kelly, Eleanor Powell ... you get the idea.

Looking forward to this forum, since I'm sure to have many more "episodes", even as careful as I try to be!

Welcome! Glad to hear you're enjoying yourself. Was just curious as to whether you ever rode solo, or do you always ride with your hubby?

And once again girls - looks like we've got another 40+ woman in the forum. This is really wonderful. Wish all of us lived close, we'd have one heck of a "Women's Only" motorcycle gang.

Haven't ridden solo yet and don't plan to at this point. It's more fun to ride with my best friend (... we're celebrating 25th anniversary in Dec.) Being so new to the sport it's also a comfort to have him as my riding buddy.

Thanks, everyone for the welcome!
introducing...

Hey! I'm glad I found this forum. I've been riding full-time for two years. I had a bike for one summer in college but I don't count that since I hadn't taken a safety course and didn't know what I was doing.

I recently sold my Suzuki GS500 and bought a ZX6-R. I love it!!! I use it as a commuter, but I like riding in the country on the weekends (twisties rule, and that bike loves to lean). I've taken it to the track too - I highly recommend it!

When I'm not riding, I'm either working as an editor or practicing with my roller derby league (rat city rollergirls). I live in Seattle with my boyfriend, who also rides a Ninja.

I'm 32, so I guess that makes me one of the younger members...who knew?
Vegbiker,

Welcome to the forum and to the world Kawi's!!!!!....we don't care about ages around here...it s just neat that alot of the ladies on this forum are over 40!!!!!

I live out in the country in KY and I love the twisties toooo. I use my bike for a commuter bike sometimes too. Right now I am car pooling.

I ride solo often as I can.....whenever the weather is good and I don't have a bunch of kids to shuttle.

We're glad that you found this forum also. And remember, it's not your age, it's your Kawi - cause they're the coolest! I live in North Bend, just outisde of Seattle, let's hook up in the Spring and ride the Snoqualmie Valley!

Hey ladies!!!!!

Well, NinjaGirl told me about this site. This will make the fifth forum I'm a part of but oh well! :) Anyway, I ride a metallic pink 2003 Ninja 636. I started off with a 2001 Ninja EX500, and had a blast, but outgrew it in 6 months. I am a certified veterinary technician by profession, but I also work part-time at Cycle Gear here in Mesa (which is how I met NinjaGirl). It's nice being the only girl in the store. I still have a lot to learn, but I'm learning fast. I have 12 cats (yes, that isn't an error, 12). I love cats....duh. I am still single ( with 12 cats, it's not surprising), and I am 28. I see that I might be one of the younger riders, but it's all good. I am the chapter leader of the Christian Sportbike Association-Phoenix Chapter. For any of you who are interested, the website is www.christiansportbike.com
Well, I think that's all. Glad to see a section for us ladies. Talk to you all soon!

Pinky

P.s. I tried to attach pictures of my bike, but the colors on the preview really sucked, so if you wanna see my bike, email me, and I'll email you some pics.

Pinky,

Go ahead and post the pictures. For some reason they all look bad in the preview, but when you double click on them to open them up they look OK.

Welcome to the forum.......I read your post in Ladies Only!!! too.

Welcome Bloodnroses,

hey ninjagirl and other ladies!

Thank you for welcoming me! I'm new to my bike, to the whole riding . I'm enjoying every minute of it! 2 weeks ago I passed my test at safety foundation(actually 3 attempt :( ) But it's better that way -- I learned more! Now I'm working on improving my skills -- I practice on small streets. I haven't been on a real road yet. Me and my bikie are still getting aquainted. They say you really bond with your motorcycle during summer and after you've ridden it for a while -- but I feel like it's MY bike already! It's just the right size (250cc), my favorite colors (black and green) and I feel so great riding it! So far I only have 2 problems..one -- I have a hard time starting it at first. I believe it does not like cold -- (I don't have a garage for it yet) Sometimes I have to press start button like 10 times with choker fully open.
and second -- sometimes it wouldn't switch from neutral to 1st gear. So I have to try it several times. Not sure why it is so.
Anyway...any advise to me would be realy appreciated...:)
