I have a 2005 ZZR600 and was wondering if it's normal in the hot summer months that the exhaust or engine heat tends to really generates and makes riding extremely hot and uncomfortable?

It gets pretty hot riding on my seat in hot weather and often I feel like my butt is roasting! Is there something I can do? Or... is that a common complaint a rider just learns to live with?

Sadly, it is very common with certain bike models... My friend's R1 is VERY hot in the seat.... She said in winter, she barely needs leather, cus she's riding a huge furnace!

I wish I knew of a good option for you to keep cool, but sadly, it's just part of the territory on some bikes. :(

Had another kinda hot seat yesterday. Strapped my b/f tire on the back of fender to take it to his shop, and it hung over the seat a little bit, so I thought it was no problem. Must have misjudged the size of my own rear quarters, cause it pushed me forward to the back of my fuel tank.
I thought my only worry was looking stupid for the 10 mile journey, but as the engine heated up, my sensitive parts began heating up. Somehow I had missed the fact that I was sitting directly over the cylinder heads on my little V-twin, and was paying for it!
Had to be one the most painful and embarassing moments of my life, until people on the highway started taking pictures of me with their cellphones! Won't be doing that again.

Was a smoking hot evening

It's OK to laugh, I thought it was pretty funny myself, but I don't think I will ever do it again. Besides, it stretched my bungee net all out, and the insides of my thighs are sore as he!! from trying get them away from the "twins". I'm just digging myself deeper, aren't I?

Life is too short not to laugh at ones self. Think of all the lessons you have learned in life, and if most of them aren't funny, then ya didn't learn anything! Glad I made you laugh, that's why I posted it, so others can learn AND enjoy my misadventures!
