I paid around $7500 (don't remember exactly) for my brand new '04, two months ago (i.e. trying to clear the last of the '04's out of the dealership, but still brand new).

How many miles does it have on it? What condition is it in? That will make a big difference. I would search around on the web and see what similar bikes are selling for, then make an offer.

My idea on good condition means the bike hasn't been used to do burn outs (look for rubber fling on the undertail) and look for any scratches or dents or anything that doesn't look 100% condition.

still seems like you should be able to knock that down a little, after all it is still a used bike. i would follow Freakinout's advice and then make an offer if it still looks good.
