I'm still confused on which jet sizes, needle, and screw settings I should use.

I have a 95' VN800A with aftermarket pipes.
I'm going to install an open element air filter, Thunder kit, but I don't know what size jets to use.

Does anyone know what other people are using with a similar setup?


I need to know:

Main jet
Pilot jet
Stock or aftermarket needle
Shims and location
# of turns out on screw
What pipes you are using
If you are using a modified air box

I'll start then the others can chime in with there opinions. Ive got the hypercharger on my 800. Probably the only difference between intakes will be the needle settings,because different kits have different needles. I'm running a 50 primary an a 165 main the hypercharger needle with the clip on the second notch down with two shims under the clip an the air/fuel mixture screw out 2 1/2 turns. Some guys are running the 170 main . The one thing is .most of the vulcans are known to be jetted lean from the factory. I can't help much with the 1500's so anything with the 800's I can help with. If you need a 50 primary , You can find one at your nearest Harley dealer. part #27302-84 call ahead an see if they got one first. the cost is about $4.00 to $5.00 . The 50 is definitly the way to go on the primary .You won't need to use your choke very much if at all. I only use mine when it's below 30 outside. the rest of the time it starts right up.Any other questions just ask.

Have you had it on the dyno to have the air/fuel ratio checked?
If so, what power did you make?

I'm running V & H cruizers . Haven't had it on a dyno yet, so the power question is one I can't answer. I might get it on one someday but haven't.
