Also ride with a windshield.
Took it off at the beginning of a season a few years back, and after a few high speed rides, on it went again.
I'm converted for life.
Now I duck down a little and my bike slices through the wind.
Big trucks going the opposite dirrection, tuck down a little and I barely feel any wind blast.

****... TI love the paint job of your bike. Quite the stable you got there.

Noone appreciates the windhsields until they realize how badly they need it, I just always had one because i really hated wind buffeting. It can get really loud and start pushing out around.
but some windshields are lowkey and slick, whiel otheres are loud and tacky. It really is your own decision of what you're looking for.

I've heard many times Rain X is bad for plastic shields but have never tried it so I have no 1st hand proof. So I Googled & there are bunches of negative experiences that are not always immediate.

Found this caution on the RainX site:
"Avoid using Rain‑X® Original Glass Treatment on any plastic surfaces, including motorcycle windshields, ATVs and solar panels."

This is the only RainX product I saw that advertises for use on plastic & it's just a cleaner & not a treatment: Rain‑X® X-treme Clean™
RENEWS GLASS AND PLASTIC
Hi, I would guess that the original had a solvent like trichloroethane which will fog plexiglass almost instantly...it dissolves it. RAIN x is fine, I have used it with no problems, but the best is a NON SILICONE polish, like T cut. this will buff out scratches, remove insect dna, and generally return the screen to a perfect see through quality I would post a picture of mine but i can't clear out my old uploaded pictures....so have no room left at this point.
As for utility, the GPZ500s had a useless screen that drove bugs into my visor, basically its too short and at the wrong angle, however on my KZ1000P it's great. It deflects everything even if im sitting bolt upright so i can see OVER the screen in protected by the deflection angle, and all the bugs, rain, wing goes over my head...If I slump and look through the screen then Im even more protected...from Bees, birds, bats, and bottles etc. So for the height of a screen i would certainly set it so than sitting upright back straight you can see over the top, and if you atr tired and slouch then you are looking through it.

Personally I don't like windshields at all. The fewer layers of glass and plastic between me and the open air the better. I actually enjoy the feel of the wind on my face and body. I do extended week long road trips, riding 8 hours a day with no problems.

There may come a (sad) day when I feel the need for a windshield but for now I like the front end as open as possible. No fairings either. I have two '84 ZN1100s and both had windshields when I bought them. I couldn't stand looking through them so I took them off first thing. I'm not knocking anyone who prefers to have a windshield. I say do what pleases you. I just thought that this thread needed another viewpoint. :)

Here's my beast as it was 2 years ago.

If you're looking THROUGH the windshield then it is way too tall.
I have lot's of bugs & stones get thrown at me by trucks so I dig a good windshield.
Our riding season is kinda short too so the wind break is welcome.

In your opinion, yes? There are times when I raise mine up so I'm looking through it rather than over it- slabbing it down the interstate, rain, love bugs, etc. Of course, on my bike, it's a lot easier than most as I have an electric windshield ;).
