first off, this is my first post on KMF. Howdy!

a little background, I've got a '97 Vulcan 1500, not sure what mod.

anyway, someone told me to use brake fluid for clutch hydraulic line. shopping online, saw mineral oil recommended. I'd like to hear some pros/cons.

DO NOT USE MINERAL OIL IN A DOT SYSTEM !! unless you like rebuilding things.... they use mineral oil in mountain bike brake systems and some euro car clutch/brake systems but USA uses DOT ONLY......
and yes you use the same fluid for brakes and clutch.... DOT 3,4,5.1 ONLY....

Yeah, no mineral oil. Use the "flavor" of DOT fluid that your mom states. It may also be printed on the cap?

In addition to the mineral oil having poor elastomer compatibility, it will likely be too high in viscosity when things are a bit cool, compared to the correct DOT fluid.

they make different WEIGHT/VISCOSITY mineral oil also..... i need it for my DOWNHILL mountain bike but have to order it and its PRICEY !!

thats mineral SPIRITS not mineral oil...... :wink: but dam dont i wish....

im all good though. found some today at my local motorcycle shop..... 4oz for 10$.... but these master dont hold much at all so it will last me a long time.....
