im having trouble with my (possibly bad) cylinder and cant find a replacement. basically im ok with going to a big bore but cant find seem to find one from that specific year available. what other motor will bolt in as a replacement? all options, same stock just different years? or different year 250? i have no idea how to get this thing going without parts.

piston blew apart in the cylinder bottom end is still great, clylinder looks pretty burnt and marred up so im not sure about just trying a new piston and just hoping. im also probably losing compression if its scarred up as well.

any advice is much appreciated.

I would find a shop that specializes in motorcycle engine rebuilds and have them give you a quote. They would know where to source the parts and can advise the best course of action.

If it won't clean up with a hone, and the shop says the gouges are too deep to re-plate, you can get a sleeve put in. I had to do it to my KX250 b/c there were no other options at the time for re-plating (too far gone) and no new ones available. Buying used is an option, but I'd only want to buy used if I could see it in person first... pictures can be misleading in my experience... been hosed on 'cherry parts!' before.
