we are in the stages of lotsa planning this year, but due to the cold, we gotta stay at lower elevations, most of us dont want to risk ice and snow with a group.
April, we have to do the julian ride, its a must, thats the first one we did as a group last year.
now january, a little more high desert time,
so, to copy and paste rich.
we're going to go straight up the 15 into Victorville, then bring the 18 to the 247 and from there match Puki's ride through the twisties into the back door of Pioneertown.
after pioneer town, the LCR has a great place for chili ( which should make for an interesting ride home)
At that point, we'll cut over on Hwy 18 (less signals than Bear Valley Road) to the 247, and take 247 ALMOST into Yucca Valley.
Just before Yucca Valley, there's a turnoff... "Pipes Road", that is a bunch of nice mellow low speed twisties (nowhere near as intense as Malibu), and that'll take us into the back side of Pioneertown.
Return trip will be down the 62 to the 10 and back home.... I plan on bringing the 60 through the Badlands into Moreno Valley, and we can all split up at either the 60/215/91 interchange, or continue if you guys would prefer to take the 57 back into OC.
The high desert portion will be highly dependent on weather... if there's snow on the ground, we'll skip that portion and just do a 100% slab "out and back" on the 10 and 62. If we go that way, you can bring the BTK group to the Redlands LCR staging point.
One of the guys gave me this link:
LateralG - California Driving and Riding Roads
and it pretty much confirms.... we've recently done anything that can be done when there's snow and ice in the mountains.
I guess a date is in order..................january 12th.
hope to see you all
