I remember reading on another site that K&N stopped making their filter for a certain year of the Ninja because it restricted more airflow than the stock air filter. Does anyone know if this is actually true or not?
Now that I went ahead and posted this I have found the site I was talking about. This guy really knows his stuff. Kenneth Waters is his name, I read he passed away when I was going through this site. Very helpful site though.
This has happened from time to time.
I'm surprised that a simple replacement filter didn't flow as well as stock, but a few years ago, the 1st gen FIPK (complete intake) for the Toyota Tundra DID hurt power on the dyno. They "fixed" it and got a 2nd gen unit to the market in about a year.
