Has anyone tried the optional Kawasaki double leather seat on the Mean Streak (with or without shark hide insert)? If so, can you comment on the comfort and seating position as compared to the stock seat? The passenger area seems to offer much better accomodations for your pillion.

For the rider, though, does it sit you lower, higher, or about the same? More forward, rearward, or about the same? It seems to have a better-defined backrest, if the rise isn't too far back. It also seems to be a bit slimmer than the stock seat, so I'm guessing that it might sit you lower.

Since it's not inexpensive, I'd like to get an idea of what changes I might expect before ordering one. Thanks in advance for any info offered.

I have one on my 04 Mean Streak and I think it's awsome. The driver and passenger seats are much better than the stock seat. You do sit a bit lower, but I like the way it feels. I can't say anything negative about it. I think it was money well spent. My wife and I have ridden for hours without complaint. I got mine with the shark skin inserts, but I'm not sure what they are suppose to do other than look trick. I'm like them none the less. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

vaporgas - thanks for the welcome! This appears to be a very active forum, and I feel that I've already learned much from it.

btreaves, it's good to hear the experience of someone who has actually tried the seat. And I'm glad to hear it's positive! Sitting lower is not a problem at all, as I'm somewhat inseam-challenged anyway, as long as the seat is still comfortable. And I agree - the shark hide inserts do look pretty cool . . . I'd probably go that route too. Thanks for your impressions.

Glad I could help...I really think you'll like it. I rode my Meanie for about 4 hours yesterday and never once thought about the seat or it's comfort. It's like sitting on my family room couch.
