Hey guys... I did a search but couldnt find an answer...

On my 92 KX250 my kick starter wont catch to crank over if I kick normally, but if I start the process slow, it will engage and Im able to crank it over.

Im going to take apart to try and find the problem but was hoping an expert would know what it is off hand. The Kick starter returns with no problems.

Thanks, and have a great holiday...

Ok, heres an update, I took it apart, took out the kick shaft assy and I tell ya, everything looks good. Im wondering if it might be that small thin spring behind the gear. It still wont catch with the case cover off when I do it quick, and I cant see behind the gear to see the problem.

Gunji,

Take that spring and lightly heat it up and stretch it. I think you will find it to work a lot better!

Check the spur gear and ratchet gear. My 1991 KDX250 has the same problem, and those two gears have worn teeth. If it is just the spring, then you are a lucky man!
