ok so i was doing a good look over my bike ( 03 kx125) and decided to take a look at the kips valve ... well when i pulled the cover off it was FULL of oil is this normal ? i mean i know there will be a little oil in there but this was full like it was filled up that way ...... i read through my manual and it doesnt say any where if there should be that much oil in there .... im just curious and wondering if i have a underlying promblem somewhere ....the only thing that would come to mind if i do is either i need a new top end or im running my mix really rich for it ( im running 32:1 ) but someonetell me if they have seen it and what would casue it ..................... but it does run fine and doent eat plugs that often ......maybe 1 plug for every 7-8 gallons of gas

thanks

Yes it is normal for oil to build up in there. I run 40:1 through all my smokers without issues and it doesn't build up on the exhaust valve as bad. I clean my exhaust valves on my smokers twice a year. You can clean it while it's in there with some carb cleaner or remove the cylinder and all the parts to the exhaust valve in the cylinder and use some easyoff oven cleaner. The flapper parts of the valves will most likely have to be cleaned with a wire wheel as they are near the piston and the oil is burnt on rather than layed on from circulating in the cylinder.
well the flappers didnt look bad and i got all the carbon off with brake cleaner i was just curious about all the oil in there .... I mean it was alot of oil I knew it would build up in there but i didnt think it would be that much but thanks
is the KIPS valve and the exhaust valve the same thing? I was reading through my manual yesterday and i came up to the page on the kips valve...the diagram shows it in the plastic gray box on the side of the cylinder....it has something that goes down into the bottom end also inside of it....i thought the exhaust valve was in that box shaped part in front of the cylinder. PLEASE help me know which is which as i am so confused right now....thanks!

Yes, the kips valve and exhaust valve are the same thing. The plastic gray box on the side of the cylinder is the cover for the KIPS linkage. You will need to unhook the linkage to get the valves out. Other than that, the goods that need to be dealt with are under the front cover.
ohhh alright i get it now...thanks yurfat
