I've been looking online, but I seem to be an idiot because I've been able to answer all of my own questions except this one....

What year did the KLR stop with the kick start? I don't want a brand new KLR, but I don't want to have to kick start it either. Someone told me that up till just a few years ago you still had to...

Any idea?? Thanks in advance! Any other info about modifications made after a certain year would be good...

No idea, but I think if you check with the guys and gals on the ADV rider forum they will be able to help you. I've always liked the looks of the last generation KLR's and they seem to be almost totally bulletproof.
From what I recall if you buy a used one make sure it has had the "doohickey" mod done. I'ts some sort of aftermarket tension spring that delas with a stock weak spring issue.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up with a 2009 now. And the doohickey on those is good, as are the modifications they made on this NEW gen of KLR. Looking at the 2007 & 2008, some of them cost as much as the 2009..and the 09 would be new! With all the modifications! So, I guess why buy the later models? I guess I answered my own question! lol....
