The stator is smoking on my 1984 KLT 250. I switched wiring harnesses from an older model (about 1982?) to this one after problems developed. I have only one CDI box, and have swapped it from the spare parts bike to the running machine, and all other parts are on the wiring harnesses. Both coils seem to work fine. The machine starts well and runs fine, but smoke creeps out around the starter and it has that tell-tale electrical stench. I tried reversing the stator/engine wires, since I cut them to splice the new connector and thought I might have respliced wrong, but that did not make any difference. Help!!
