Are there any aftermarket exhaust options out there for the 2021 klx 300sm yet.? I’ve been searching here and there for a couple days now and can only find exhaust for the 250 or the 300r. I would think the 300r exhaust would fit on the 300sm but figured I’d try to get some info here before pulling the trigger on the 300r exhaust. Thanks for any replies

I also just got a klx300SM and have been fishing around for parts. There isn't much!

So far I lowered it front and rear, got a rear rack (Amazon), ditched the rear fender (TST Industries), and installed an exhaust (Delkevic, FMF), and alloy sportbike clip on bars (ebay).

There was hardly any choice for exhausts. I got a Delkevic because it comes with a bung on the midpipe for the O2 sensor. Then I added an FMF Megabomb header for more low rpm torque. The 8 inch shorty muffler is insanely loud so I made a quiet insert to tone it down.

The clip on bars are my own adaptation to an unintended purpose. They attach directly onto the protruding tops of the front fork tubes above the triple, when I lowered the front 2 inches. I lowered the rear by removing the shock preload and adding Koubalinks. Each mod has reduced the weight. So far the curb weight is down to 295 pounds.

Wow you really went for it.! The bars look sick. Something like that never even crossed my mind. For the exhaust I was also about to go for the delkevic with a megabomb header but I was thinking the 9” but now seeing yours I think I’ll go with the 8”. When you ordered the megabomb did you order one that fits the klx300r.? And have you put any thought into changing out the sprockets.? I was contemplating on going with a 40 rear because to my understanding if you go up in the rear it’ll be more for acceleration and if you go down you’ll have more top speed. Haven’t been able to find a 40 but I’m sure I just haven’t looked in all the right places.

JT Sprockets – The World's Leading Sprocket

I've been getting all my sprockets from them for years. :)

I had done similar mods before on new bikes and knew exactly what I wanted. My SM is 3 weeks old with 200 miles on it and I'm already pretty much done with all the major mods.

I'm strictly a road rider (no dirt) so low narrow tucked in clip on bars are a plus. As far as I know, I'm the only one who has done this. I'm also a small guy, so even as low as they are, I still ride comfortably upright. The front forks can't be dropped because they hit the stock bars, so clip ons allow dropping the front 2 inches. I dropped the rear about 4 inches which increases the fork rake and trail on the front wheel more like a dirt bike. When you lower a bike, you can never go wrong lowering the back more than the front as it just makes the bike more stable. I ride for transportation and not performance so it's perfect for my needs.

A 40 would make your bike accelerate faster. I'm not sure it would reduce your top speed much as 6th gear is already pretty tall, however the engine would be turning faster.

You can always experiment by getting on the freeway and leaving your bike in 5th gear to simulate lower gearing and see how you like it. :)

Delcovic was the only exhaust I could find that was in stock. I like that it has a bung for the 02 sensor. The 8 inch muffler is L O U D.

Here's a video after I quieted it down with a home made insert and a "beehive" internal insert and the FMF Megabomb header.

(83) 2021 Kawasaki 300SM Delkevic Exhaust with FMF Megabomb Header - YouTube

All three work together to mellow it out... and it's still somewhat loud, but at least tolerable. I should have taken a video before for contrast as the sound was essentially like a straight pipe.

Nice setup. Pls post a short video clip when you can. I'm curious about the sound as I'm currently looking for ideas on how to improve my exhaust
