hey all, i just got a '90 kx80, i'm really excited about it, it's been stored for a while by previus owner, so it's in pretty good shape, but needs oil change and fresh gas, so i have some quick and easy questions, here i go, sorry some are stupid... :)

what kind of oil should i put on it?
32:1 is it a good mix?, that is what the ex-owner used on it
what kind of oil should i use in the mix?

i saw one "universal 2 cycle" but it said for air cooled engines, so i passed on that

i want to get the grips for it, anyone knows a site for kawi stuff that is not too $$$
thanks for any help/tips.
javier.

If you change the oil in the gearbox, any motorcycle rated (for wet mesh clutch) 10w 40 motor oil for motorcycles will do down there.

As for premix,..32:1 is always a safe bet,...I use 40:1 in all the moto-x bikes, but I use a good quality synthetic(Redline racing premix).

If the bike has been sitting for quite a while,it would also be a good idea to clean the carb and jets thoroughly.

hope this helps.

Auto parts store will not have the pre-mix you want/need. You need to go to a motorcycle shop. Use Kloz R-50 and run 32:1 more oil means more HP. Just need to make sure you are not failing plugs. 10W40 is great on KX's, get the cheap stuff. You can get grips anywhere. The best place to get parts is either Dennis Kirk or Bob's Cycle.

thanks again

thanks for the replays guys, i got 10-40 i put .7L (3/4 of a quart), i rode it with tha gas that was on it, but tomorrow, i'm going to get the synthetic stuff to mix with my gas.
good news bike runs awesome, i went to a place near by, it's about 4 acres, has some small jumps, and some sharp turns, mostly sand, what made my ride a bit harder, i never rode an off road bike on off road terrain, but i had fun for being the first time.
if is there anyone from new york, e-mail me @ javier_altube@hotmail.com
place is in stony brook, near 347 and nichols rd.

thanks again, i'll be around with some more questions and updates....
