Hello. I have a 1982 kz550-c LTD. The engine is trashed. I don't have the space or knowledge to do a complete rebuild.

My question is which kz550 engines will drop into my bike for a direct swap? I'm seeing 550-f, 550-m, etc.... and I have no idea what the differences are. Any help would be great.

You'll want to get an engine from a chain drive model.
So: 550C or 550A & maybe the 550D/H GPz models.
Possibly the ZX550 GPz & ZR550 Zephyr.
The D/H ZX/ZR models use the same engine nomenclature: KZ550DExxxxxx

The 550F/M models are shaft drive. I don't know if they can be converted to chain drive, but you probably wouldn't want to do that anyway. hee.
