I recently bought a 1973 Spectre that was Modified?? by a previous owner and I can't figure out what this connector sitting on top of the battery is. It appears to have an open end on one of the connectors and so far I don't even know if anything is supposed to plug into it. All electric devices seem to be working OK
I'm probably the 3rd or maybe even the 4th owner and when I looked under the seat I saw quite a few connectors that wern't plugged into anything and I don't have a manual yet so there are a lot of questions. I know one thing for sure, although it will start and run, it ain't running right so I'm going through the whole damned thing to see how many things have been "tinkered" with.
It looks like the connector for the battery level monitor on the GPz750 models. I don’t know whether the Spectre had this feature but it could be Kawasaki used the same loom and just left it redundant.
When I got mine it didn't have a battery, so I'm no help there, also I don't have a gauge to tell me about the level, but I do have a volt meter which doubles as the tach, not to sure about the usefulness of the volt meter though
Easy enough to find out. Start the bike and put a voltmeter on it. Or just open the fuse box and see if it gets its power from a fuse. IIRC, the battery level detectors where looking for voltage not supplying voltage.
