leave the bike on the side stand. Use a regular floor jack. Put the jack lift point under either the right frame rail (opposite the side stand), the engine case toward the right side, or the shock linkage. It'll lift it no problem and the engine cases are not going to get hurt. It takes one heck of a jolt to crack/break those cases-even as cheesy as they are. A floor jack will not hurt the cases unless you have a pair of Krispy Kreme models sitting on it in bikini's while you're trying to lift the bike.

I just had my mechanic point out that on my '05, 800B, I have spool mounts. 12/1.25 bolts go right in and then you can use a sport bike rear wheel lift. Just thought you might like to know.... Raising the bike is no longer an issue. We also have a real life (HF modified with air/over hdy.) and a bike jack.

Hello!
Thanks for that info, but I don't understand well what exactly do you mean. I know that there are two 'cones' pointed downwards to the ground near the rear axle, which I assume are ment for lift stand. I'm interested in those bolts to fit in and solve the issue with rear stand. If you are kind enough and make some pics, i would be happy... Any way, i'll check it out again. Can't wait for snow to melt and spring comes in... I'm all nervous in waiting... ;)

killyourchopper made that post way back in 2008 and he is no longer with us.

What he suggested is a rather risky procedure. There are many tools you can buy that can lift your bike safely or at least allow you to spin the wheel for chain maintenance. See below for a couple of suggestions.
