Hi All,

Our 2004 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Classic has a light bar. It appears to me that it's a Kaw issue bar, with two running lights. The wiring extends up toward the clutch, with a weather covered switch on the handlebar next to the clutch. The bulbs appear intact, but the lights do not go on, regardless of the swiutch operation.

I turn the ignition on by moving the key to the 12 o'clock position. Am I turning the bike on properly? We didn't get a manual with the bike, which bought via a Harley dealer,so our brief was minimal.

Thanks for any guidance.

Most light bars will operate after the engine is running. This protects your battery from running-down once the engine's not running. Some folks wire-up their lightbars directly and must remember to turn-off the power from a switch, but if the lightbar has a relay that's controlled from the start-up position, the lights won't come-on until the engine is running.
