Hi again.
I have a simple but logical question.
I have a 2007 Vulcan 500
I reached reserve at about 110 miles and filled with 2.1 gallons. I also know another guy with the same problem
Manual says 3.2 ON and 0.8 Reserve.
Firste question: What is wrong? Where are the other 2 gallons?
I don’t want to start modifying anything so, my logic says and I need your opinion, that if I’m getting 55 miles per gallon and my ON tank is filling with 2.1 gallons, I still have 1.9 gallons on reserve so I can ride another 55 miles on reserve so I still will have around 1 gallon to get to refuel ?
Hope it is not confusing.
Thanks guys

also, not all the fuel capacity is usable

not saying this will provide the answer to your question but has to be factored in

Are you filling on the sidestand or sitting on the bike and upright?

If you are filling the bike upright and the gas cap is not centered on the tank, you are shorting yourself... how much depends on the bike, but it could be a gallon or more.

You ARE getting 55mpg if you can consistently only get 2 gallons into it after 110, but if you are shorting yourself on the fill, then I would not trust the reserve to allow for more than another 25-30 miles.
