yes you are allowed to wear motorcross helmets on the streets just like you can wear street helmets in the woods....But for the (DOT) rating, that is up two what your state law says....thinck about it in some states you are not required two were a helmet at all.... here in good old W.V. they dont require a snell approval or a dot approval, but it is the law that you wear a helmet at all times ......
have fun

As long as it's DOT approved, it's legal in 50 states. Some states have tried to push for mandatory SNELL, and even to outlaw "half" or "beanie" helmets, (Tenn for one), but they have not been successful so far... the Snell requirement would most certainly be thrown out in court, as they are not a government agency... they are a private corporation who is paid a royalty for every lid sold wearing the "Snell" tag.
A state MIGHT have better luck passing and enforcing a 3/4 or FF requirement, but they would still have to get through the courts the fact that the DOT is a Federal agency and gives approval to the half-lids.

Motocross lid on the street? Just don't look up at 70mph if you leave the visor installed
