I bought a 07 KX85 for my wife but I have to swap the silencer out with one that has a spark arrester due to new laws here in my state. The guys at the dealership said I need to change the jetting even though it's only a slight change. My cousin who has a bike shop said it probably wouldn't make a difference and the bike might just run a little fat. Any advice?

I wouldn't be in a hurry to swap jets. Run it for while and check the plugs. A little fat is better than a little lean.

+1, intake changes (air filter, pod etc.) require more jetting attention than exhaust.

Toss a spare plug under the seat and forget about it.
