I had been talking about carb problems on a 1981 Kawasaki 440 ltd. I have one question. When i did take the carb apart...i coudln't figure out how to take the needle seat out. Is there anyway to do it? I gripped onto it with plyers...and tried to rotate it...didn't move....i tried to pull it out...didn't move...so i just cleaned it the best i could and put the needle back in....

I did switch needles in the carbs...and even floats....and the right bbl still tried to leak. So i'm narrowing that the needles are good...and the floats are good....it has to be the seat!

Anyone?

I don't right now...if i take it back apart..i'll be sure to take some pics. I found some rebuild kits...and none seem to include a seat...so i'm guessing it's permanent in there. I even looked on powersportspro it has a partsfish....and i didn't see it in there...

But now that i think of it....those brass fittings are not likely to go back....the needles on the ends have some special rubber at the end....something that couldn't wear brass down...

I did switch the needles around...but there's no saying that one seat is actually not a little smaller and the "worn" tip needles seat in the smaller seat better......

The needles don't look worn...but for the time being i may just replace the needles.....that may work better
