My local dealer has a new left over black 06 ZX10r , offered it to me today for $8500.00. I am so tempted, what would you guys do?

Keith...I would buy my bike over and over again at $8800....If it were that cheap, I would buy it and use the saved money to sweeten up the wife for the surprise.
The 10R is a special bike...It is demanding but rewarding. Not a newb bike for sure. But if you have enough saddle time it will make you smile through your whole ride. I am sooooooooo happy I went with my 10R instead of the new 6R...I can say this because I have done the transition. Just change out that master cylinder when you can. Hopefully you will join the club buddy.
I rode one at the bike show last year. It was a hoot to be sure.

I'm a pretty big guy (6'1" at 235) and a bit older than most of the youngsters on board. So at 51 years young the bike's ergos were a bit much for me. But as a second bike? Oh yeah - I'd be all over that in a heartbeat.
it depends if your truly in the market for a zx10r I would say that its too good to pass up. If you want it just cause its a good deal well I hope you have lots of money :)

I sat on the Busa at the show...I can see why so many riders have one. A bit large for me but definitely for the big guys.
I would love to have another bike...Not now though...To many big toys comeing...If I were not buying another car soon, I would get a 848 and if the price ruins me a Gixxer 600 in white...Get rid of one of the bike bro...I would get ride of the 650R. Keep the ZZR though.
In December of last year I saw a new, orange ZX10-R for $8,600 because the sales manager wanted to "get rid of it". I almost bought it...and I wasn't, am not and will never be in the market for that bike. That is one of those times that I was really glad that my wife was there to remind me that I don't need any SuperSport to get to work...a litre Supersport at that. If that's the bike that you've been wanting, get it...but coming from someone that almost bought one when I didn't need--or even want--a second bike, it sounds like you just happened across a good deal on a bike that you don't need. Because if you've been wanting one real badly, this thread would be titled: Look what I bought for $8,500!

So the Harley is gone?
Go for it.

Yep, got a decent offer so it is someone else's, it needed a good home, i wasn't riding it enough, though in 2 years it got 10,000 miles.

HD is sold, ZZR stays, the 650r is next to go in the paper 8)

Smart choice...You will love the 10R. No one needs that kind of power...But it is not what you are riding it for...It is so nice and easy on the streets, so powerful when you need it, and it just feels good. That is the most important part.
I can get a new 07 for that. The 08 are out. I would say its NOT a bad deal but I think you could get it cheaper.

you can get a new 07 for $8500? this is way under dealer cost, it lists for 11,200
That's no deal for an 06 bro. They want to get rid of that bike more than you'd like to have it in your garage. I'd offer them $7500
a used 06 10r books for $8885
It's a pretty good deal but not a killer deal. I paid $8998 for my '06 last year at this time, so I would think you can find a leftover '07 around $9K now. An '06 that's been sitting an additional year should be more than $500 below that number I think, especially because the '08 actually brings a lot of new stuff to the table (traction control etc) whereas the '06 to '07 was the same bike.

Good points, and i really don't need it
I didn't NEED my 650R last month either. But it's out in the parking lot here at work today! :D
