Hi I just bought a vn750 1997 model, like the bike. have a question.
When I started out for a ride today I cut it short because of a new roar I heard while taking off. It only roared in first gear while taking off from a stop, I did not really notice it on my first takeoff, but did on my second.

It sounded like my stickshift truck in reverse.

somebody told me it might be my clutch plates and is normal for an older bike. they called it coffe grinder. Do you think that is what it was, or did I not use enough effort downshifting to first and only have it partially in gear or something? it cleared up after the third start and I couldnt get it to do it again.
