Hello everyone! Just picked up a 2023 KLX300SM yesterday, moving up from a rebel 300. I got back into motorcycles two years ago after a 40 year hiatus, and I plan to ride mostly on the road but I would like to have the option to do dirt/gravel roads, fire trails, dual path, that sort of thing. I know the non-SM KLX would have been the better option, but this is what I've got.
So here is the question: which tires would ya'll suggest for 70/30 use, keeping to the 110/70-17 and 130/70-17 sizes that come standard. Shinko makes a dual sport tire that looks pretty good, but the nearest thing for the front would be a 120/70-17. Would the 10 mm wider (7 mm taller) even make a significant difference?
Full disclosure, I just turned 72 and I'm 175 lbs with a 32" inseam.
