1996 kawasaki vulcan 800a
leaks oil at base of engine, prob less than 1/2 teaspone in a day.
would a good engine sealer work? or should it go to the shop?.
i have the upper engine gasket kit to fix this problem
Thanks [email protected]
Guess i had it wrong, that was what i was told by previous owner -[jug base gasket} should have been called top end kit for vulcan 800 .
Is it a big job to change thease gaskets or is it somthing to take to shop for work to be done.
opinions needed! [email protected]
If it's the actual base gasket, then the whole top of the engine has to come apart including the cylinders. Not difficult but a lot of work. If it's only leaking that much and you can tell where it's coming from, you could try pushing some sealer in there as a temp fix (probably won't last permanently) until it gets worse. Silicon doesn't like oil (regardless of what the product says) so try something else.
