Hi folks.

Just found this forum. I bought my 2001 Vulcan 800 today! I've ridden quite a few bikes, and I absolutely LOVE this bike. It has quite a few custom parts--bars (high bars), seat, grips, pipes, highway bars. I was afraid that I might outgrow an 800, but I think I can ride this bike for a good many years. My husband just bought a 2003 BMW F650GS; it's a nice bike, but I just don't feel comfortable on it. I'm much happier with my older Vulcan.

I'm a return rider--haven't owned a bike in 20 years. I rode for quite a few years, but 20 years is a long time. So I took the MFS beginning rider course a few months ago. It's really great to back on a bike again. My Vulcan is my 50th birthday present to myself. Makes turning 50 a lot easier to deal with. :D

Thanks for a great forum. I can tell I'm really going to enjoy this place.

Well, I rode it home that day--the long way. Took a 30-mile detour. :) Then rode it the next day, and the next, and the next. Unfortunately, I had to take it to the shop yesterday (needs brake work), but the temperature dropped to 45 degrees today and it's raining, so I couldn't have been riding anyway.

Welcome new forum members!

Nice to have you on board...as for the light in the end of the tunnel if it ain't red..well, just look at all the light fixtures hanging under the lights and try counting all the dead bugs...I'm not saying go through tunnels or not to, but just as the prior comment went about the light being turned off indefinately...there has to be something wierd about a white light, at the end of a tunnel, and going TOWARDS IT...Thinking about things before they happen may save your life. you won't find a "reset" button in life or a rewind/do-over, Instant playback...think ahead and always have a backup plan if you can...
