Hi to all,
I am an "old" motorcyclist with a love of twin engine bikes, particularly V twins. I an looking with flashes of lust in my heart at the VN 1500 and was wondering if any of you good people could give me any comments, good or bad, relating to this bike. I have never owned a Kawasaki, but I am fully aware of their impeccable history.
As I am a touring biker(with my wife) comments in regard to the suitability of the 1500 in this regard would be most welcome along with any other matters of interest.
With kind regards,
Kevan O`Donnell( South Africa)

re

welcome gw

i'm a big fan of the 1500-i think its one of if not the best value in that class going
its a great bike for the money, very reliable, comfortable, and stylish.you can't go wrong with
that bike.it has not changed very much over the years and even though the fi 1600
is out they still offer the 1500 because it still sells well-good luck!

ride safe

I recently purchased an '04 1500 Classic. Best decision I've made in years. I looked at both the 1600 and 1500, and because of the price I went with the 1500. Sure to have doulbe discs up front and fuel injection would've been nice, but the 1500 has PLENTY of stopping power and the need for FI isn't that strong. What a sweet ride!

I'm also new to the 1500 Drifter the wife liked this one most in regards to her comfort, being that see is able to get the boards lower. It's nice step up from my 78 KZ650.

No mods yet, she's only 3 weeks old. It already was a struggle to get her in the garage past the wife. I plan to make plenty of upgrades; windscreen, pipes, better seats, saddlebags and more. I'll keep my profile updated as these are added.

If you're a touring rider I might want to steer towards the Nomad, cheaper to get the nomad than to get a Vulcan and then load it up for touring with windshield, bags, etc...

( I know I just posted in another topic to wait before getting a Nomad, this is different. This gentleman doesn't presently own a motorcycle with twice the power of the Nomad ).

Bud8fan, how loud did those V&H Straightshot pipes make your 1500? I want to upgrade the exhause but don't want to split my ear drums or shatter the windows of my neighbors eighter. I just want to be able to hear it when I'm at speed more than I can currently do as well as make it bark when I'm on the throttle.
