Hi there everyone

I don't mean to alarm anyone, but currently i ride a *ahem* yamaha XJ600...

BUT-

i'm looking at a 1995 GPZ500S

it's done 45,000 miles so it's been round the block a few times...

i'm going to see it tonight and i was wondering if you guys and girls could give me a few hints as to what to look for (i don't really know what i'm doing when it comes to assessing what kind of shape a bike is in)

any help or advice would be most appreciated

cheers

Hi Wolfman,

Welcome to the forum.

Make sure the bike is cold when you go over there and start her up so you have a decent idea how it runs. Follow the link above as it is a very good resource. Bring a friend to help you look over the bike. You can distribute the checklist - check it over and make an offer after your assesment.

Good luck

a good way to know that an engine will be cold when you get there, ask the guy/girl if they are home and if they say yes tell them you'll be dropping by in the next few hours to look at the bike, then show up 10 minutes later :)

This way they probably will not have started it

Have fun finding a bike, I know I did
