hey there every one just wondering about spiceing up this bike with different forks and rear suspension does any one have any suggestions on how to do this.I want to make this bike into a nice but different look thxs for info.jason
The front fork tubes on the KZ1000 LTD are 36mm diameter - that's the same as the Z1 - but not much else. So for a different look, it means grafting a different front-end on the bike. There are plenty of people who have done this. You may want to checkout some of the threads on KZRider and other forums. All-Balls Racing has steering stem bearings to help solve the problem of different stem sizes.
You can find some different look shocks - the issue is the width of the units. You'll notice on your bike how slim the stock shocks are, and how little clearance there is between the shock and chain/chainguard. Many folks try to find either an aftermarket box section swing arm, or use an aluminum swing arm off a bike like the GS1000's. You can find some very inexpensive eye-to-eye shocks on ebay or the forums - take-off shocks from Harley. But remember the width of the unit issue - without swapping the swingarm out the choices are a little more limited.
The ride height ties in with all of this. Many of the Harley shocks are a little shorter than stock, so that lowers the rear of the KZ and impacts ground clearance...
