The front fork tubes on the KZ1000 LTD are 36mm diameter - that's the same as the Z1 - but not much else. So for a different look, it means grafting a different front-end on the bike. There are plenty of people who have done this. You may want to checkout some of the threads on KZRider and other forums. All-Balls Racing has steering stem bearings to help solve the problem of different stem sizes.
You can find some different look shocks - the issue is the width of the units. You'll notice on your bike how slim the stock shocks are, and how little clearance there is between the shock and chain/chainguard. Many folks try to find either an aftermarket box section swing arm, or use an aluminum swing arm off a bike like the GS1000's. You can find some very inexpensive eye-to-eye shocks on ebay or the forums - take-off shocks from Harley. But remember the width of the unit issue - without swapping the swingarm out the choices are a little more limited.
The ride height ties in with all of this. Many of the Harley shocks are a little shorter than stock, so that lowers the rear of the KZ and impacts ground clearance...
