I agree with her. Being that your not a teen ager experiencing acceleration for the first time, you just got take it easy on the right forarm tell you start to feel comfy on a bike again.
One thing I would suggest is taking someone you know with an endorsement to the dealer and let them take it for a ride. Let them tell you about it excpecially someone who rides quite often they will know or be able to forsee any problems that you might not notice if you did ride it right now. Good luck and be safe!

Call your DMV and ask them what is needed to get a MC endorsement. If it is anything like Florida you have to probably take a written test to get a temperary permit that is good for like 6 weeks then you take the driving skills part. I agree with bikeaholic about buying a used bike although 10k is not alot on modern bikes, alot could have happened to it in 10k miles ; screwwy forks, bad brakes, vibrations from frame being repaired after accident, not saying that stuff is likely but is possible. There job is to sell the bike, and that is their main concern, look how many 18 year old kids drive out of dealers on gsxr 1300 Hyabusas, with a happy salesman waving. But that is is a whole nother subject I better stop on.

Hell, I bet there ain't a person here that can say they never dropped a bike or worse. And as far as being nervous that is normal, just ride on not so busy roads for a while and you'll get your confidence up fast. Shoot in a month you'll be bench racing at the coffee shop.
The dealership does sound fair, just don't be shy about any questions, no matter how small or insignificant they seem. Besides I'm sure he wants to keep your business; tirers, sparkplugs, accesories, I know how ya'll cruiser guys love all them accessories.....LOL :p
