Some of you wanted to see the final layouts for the bike paint I'll be doing on my 2K. I know these files are kinda' large, but wanted you to see the detail. I'm anxious to get started now that I know what I'm doing.

Decided to bring back my company name for this project. If I do any additional jobs, I guess I'm going to resurrect it and add it to the jobs in hopes of perpetuating further work. Anyhow...

The pieces together.

Starting from back, since the design is running that way, rear fender.

Tank.

Front Fender.

Looks great Todd,
You going to do anything with the side covers? That's always been a sore spot with me, my bike has a great factory paint job and they leave the side covers plain black.
Nope. Leavin' the side covers alone. I only want artwork on the top of the bike.

Sorry 'bout that, Trike.

I think that design is PERFECT!!!!!!! I can't wait to see it finished and in person!!!!!!

HOLY COW you're good!!!!!!!!

PS - Since you are bringing your own business name back, does that mean you'll take orders after your bike is done?!!!!!!

I love it!

a few questions for my own curiousity-

Did you make a test prints to trial fit the art on the tin?
What kind of paint will you be spraying for the final?
Any idea how long it will take fo finish?

It looks like many many hours of frisket work. very ambitious.
I can't wait to see it. Keep up the great work!

I have access to a large format printer, so I'll print them to size and use the prints to cut masks. Of course, I'll also be cutting masks directly on the pieces as well. It'll be a case by case determination.

The base and clears are a urethane enamel - it's a Swedish paint, so don't ask me to remember the brand (much less pronounce it). I'll be using House of Kolor for my airbrushing. I have a sample set on order of 20 colors (bases, kandies, solids, etc.). They are compatible with urethane clears. My painter's going to add one coat of clear before I start so I sandwich the art. He's also sending me a sample painted piece. I'll shoot some HOK on it and send it back to have him test compatibility. From their literature and his experience, doesn't look like there's going to be an issue

Figure it's going to take 2 months to complete, since I'll only have evenings/weekends to work. You are correct... many-many masks. Fortunately, I have many-many years of experience working with an exacto. I'm from an era where we used to cut color plates by hand from ruby/amberlith. I used to cut 12' bus signs by hand, including type, so I'm pretty good with a knife.

I'll start a thread in the project section once I get the tins back and get ready to go. Might help others learn from my mistakes.

Thanks.

I'm a little nervous about getting the airbrushing started. It's been awhile. There's always a little acclimation period until you get comfortable again - getting used to the equipment and materials. It's a good feeling when it starts to flow.

Nice thing about artwork is... there's no such thing as mistakes... only changes.

Looks great Impact G. you are a man of many skills.
I too have many hidden skills... which I still haven't found. I like the fact the the art work runs from the back of the bike all the way to the front (very nice).

One question though. Looking at MeanGirl's picture on the rear fender it kinda looks like her raised arm is a little out of position. It doen't seem like a natural way a person would raise a skull up in the air (twisted wrist to the right). Or it could be the shadowing is a little darker then the rest of her. It just looks a little off. Sorry...just a thought, I could be wrong.

Thanks. Wanted to maintain a theme from front to back.

Hahahaha... everyone think's it's MeanGirl. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. As far as the postition, wanted it dramatic. Didn't want to turn the skull out, wanted the focus, pretty much throughout, to focus towards center so it doesn't look like anything's falling out of the 'canvas'. Raise your hand in the same manner and I think you'll see that it's anatomically correct, although you did make me check and make sure I didn't put her thumb on the wrong side of her hand...
