I think I messed up....

When I bought the 125 the guy told me the bike was a 1998.

Well I put the crank piston and bottom end together with 98 parts
Looking into cleaning the Exhaust Valve I noticed 3 screws on the main
Valve cover NOT 4 like the 98 has.
Doing a VIN check on the Kawi site I found it's a 1997.

How much trouble am I in on the bottom end? Everything went together perfect and the gaskets fit right.

What else was changed from the 97 to the 98 ? fenders tank carb ect ect?

Pistons are different, I would suspect that the head was contoured differently and perhaps the piston crown was different, Bore and stroke are the same. I don't think your in any trouble on the bottom end, in fact you may have helped yourself. The 97 had no bottom end, none, zero, zip, nada, so one of the tricks was to use an 96 crank, which was lighter and made the bike feel like it had bottom end due to spooling up faster. So depending on the weight it may be better than it was, as far as creating problems because its different I don't think you will have any issues.
