There is a 95% chance that the problem is your speedometer cable. If you're lucky it unscrewed itself from the back of your speedometer. Just add a drop of locktite and screw it back on. If you're not so lucky (most people aren't so lucky) the cable is broken. Try taking it off the bike and turning one end to see if the other end turns. If it doesn't, march yourself down to the dealer and buy a new cable, lube it, slap it in, then pat yourself on the back for a job well done.
