Hello,

Trying to get my cruiser's ugly paint job a new look. The previous owner took some (looks like) nail polish and painted skulls on the tank and side fairings. I'm wanting to paint the headlight, front fender, rear tail, fairings and tank matte black.

I was going to plastidip it, but I heard fuel + plastidip = a bad day. I figured I'll go the full 9 yards and prep, sand, prime, paint. I'm looking for a satin/ matte finish on the bike.. any paint recommendations that are cheap? Right now I'm thinking Rustoleum, but I'm not sure yet.

I think Gun-Kote (sp?) might be fuel resistant. not sure. ???

Most rattlecan paints available at the auto parts store are not fuel resistant.
After painting, you'd need to topcoat with a urethane clear.
SprayMax 2k clear is one such product --- it comes in a special 2-part can;
you actuate a button on the bottom that allows the 2 parts to mix; then you have about 24 hrs to spray it.

I used Duplcolor rattle can flatt.
Then used a 2 part urethane clear coat by Color Rite. Been several yrs gas just evaporates off no spotting😎
The Cotor Rite clear I Used was a matte clear. it did not gloss the flatt paint. Otherwise the clear would put a high gloss on the flatt paint. They sell a small spray kit with a compressed air can Aerosol KK8 Matte/Flat Eggshell Finish Clearcoat Kit
