The atv was shoved into gear when the motor was revved up several months ago. The clunk sound has increased in volume over the last 4 or 5 times. So much so I can hear it indoors of my house (doors and windows closed) with the atv outside at least 100 feet away.

The loud clunk sound usually happens in high gear in deep mud, at top end speed, going up a steep embankment. It seems to do fine at all other times under normall stress.

I have the atv completely torn down, from the differential to removing and splitting the engine and checking all the transmission gears. Have not found one gear tooth stripped or any indication of a problem.

Has anybody had this type of problem? What did you find wrong? What should I check next?
