questions about the classic 1500

1555 Views 7 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  bud8fan
i'm looking for a v-twin and am being drawn to the classic.
one repair shop said on the road they were great but around town they were to heavy.
i have a 03 wing which weighs 900 lbs . i know the classic weighs much less.
does that seem to be a problem? i'm ready to buy?
are there any other things i should think about

i love to ride

CLASSIC 1500 = GREAT CHOICE!

tHE 1500 CLASSIC IS A VERY EASY TO RIDE BIKE WITH ENOUGH POWER EVEN STOCK TO GO ANY WHERE IN THE U.S. WITHOUT HAVING TO WORRYING . I RECENTLY BOUGHT AN 02" CLASSIC 1500 FI WITH ONLY 770 MILES ON IT AT ALMOST HALF PRICE, AND LOVE IT! THERE ARE ALOT OF GOOD DEALS OUT THERE YOU JUST HAVE TO BE PATIENT AND KNOW WHAT YOU WANT. I'M 5"7 200 LBS. AND DON'T HAVE ANY TROUBLE IN TOWN WITH MY 1500--EVEN WITH MY WIFE ON THE BACK!
RIDE SAFE,
LONESTAR
I ride an '04 1500 Classic. Love the bike, my doctors appointment is this Wednesday to fix my constant grin and good attitude ( a little shout out to bikeaholic there...) anyway, I ride in town with no problems. I'm 5'7" / 170 lbs and can handle whatever the in town ride brings. There is plenty of power, braking, styling and head turning at the red lights.

My only complaint is that there are never enough sunny days to get out, but this is just part of the price I pay for living in the Pacific Northwest...
whoever told you the classic is too heavy around town must ride a 250 Savage or a moped. All the weight is down low in the engine so the CG is really low. If you can ride a big wing you can throw a 1500 classic around all day long. :)

Greetings, this is X-wing(but you can call me Carlo). I, too, had a GL1800, '02, so I know what you mean..... DO NOT WORRY..... BUY THE CLASSIC..... I just got a Nomad and have not regretted the switch at all. :D  :) :D

These things handle themselves, well, almost.
