I ended up having a stroke of luck today, it turns out the ring didn't actually fall in the engine but instead down the frame. I found it on the ground under it.

But I still have the issue of the broken ring. It was the top compression that broke, should I try and put it together with one of the old ones and see what happens?

400th post FTW.

How much were the new rings? How long would it take to get a new set?

Other than the oil smoke how was it running?

I mean you wouldn't WANT to install an old ring in the motor but if it's going to mean spending another $20 on something you only have $100 in, I don't think it's worth it...
The rings were about 30.00, I'd rather not spend the money on new ones. I checked the gap on the old one and it was not bad at all, so I threw it back in and put it all back together today.

It runs now, not great but it runs. I had to replace the recoil rope but other than that it's only got carb issues. It doesn't like to be given any more than light throttle.

This is my first bike, basically I got it for 100.00 and it was a motor, frame and pile of parts. I've put it all together as best I can. I've always loved ATVs since I was little, but only now have I been able to actually get one. So far I'm loving it, runs great and is a ton of fun even on only 5 acres.

It's not pretty, but it sure is fun. :)

Today we got some snow and I decided to take some updated pictures of what it looks like now. I've got just about everything finished except for a couple small things (battery, new front tires). Runs and shifts great. I couldn't be happier and am now sold on Kawasaki. And yes I am aware my rack is tilted backwards a little bit. I can't mount, stick, or draw anything straight, lol.

Nice new ornament on the front:
quoted a couple pages back because i love mr giggles's old bayou. me and my brother each have one. his is a red 98' and mines a black 91' neither is worth much money and they're nowhere near new, but they are priceless to us. we live in florida where there's plenty of mud, no elevation and we have old phosphate quarries for our hills to climb lol. you'll notice mine needs kenda bearclaws or itp swamplites instead of the razrs that i got it with

here are some pictures.

here's my brother enjoying mud on his

meanwhile my girlfriend bought a brand new 2009 kawasaki prarie 360 4x4, not to take anything away from my bayou but god i love that prarie. except if it gets stuck lol, takes two people with some serious strength to get it out. here's a couple of fred 1

My pending new ride... pending repairs to get it running (green-clogged carbs from ethanol). 2002 Prairie KVF650 4x4.
