I just made my first long trip with the new pulley installed on an 06 classic. We covered about 1600 miles total, with the bulk of the miles ridden (1200-1400) in two days. A large percentage of those miles were on Interstate 10 in west Texas where the speed limit is 80mph. I rode about 750 miles yesterday.

The difference is substantial. If you do any highway riding at all you need to buy this pulley. Kawasaki seemed to target the 900 at town riding with only short bursts down the interstate. This modification seems to settle the bike down at higher speeds.

Acceleration would have to suffer but honestly I can't tell the difference. It still pulls like it did. It's just not screaming at me at 80 mph.

I thought I saw a post where some experienced some belt noise, at least more than stock.

Any of you find this to be true?

If it had belt noise it probably was adjusted incorrectly. They adjusted my belt at the 4000 mile checkup incorrectly, took two trips to get it right and all is well again. 900 isn't as bad as the 2000 evidently.

O.K. now that the R&D is out of the way and the customer base seems quite happy with the mods made by scootworks on the new pulley system, When Ma Kaw, I say WHEN! Ma Kaw, are you going to incorporate this into your newer models??????????????

I am sure you would all agree that this is the case and the General consensus of this modification has improved the 900 by tons and tons. It was the main reason I traded up to the 1500.

The 900 was my first love and you never forget.............

Yes it does make some belt noise, and we have adjusted it several times with no success, but it does not hurt the belt or anything else and it cannot be heard at any speed above 5 mph or so. Great mod, you will love it!!!

Probably never, the bike is fine as is, why make another derivation that isn't needed. The 900 will run all day at 90 and be happy doing it, you just want it to do it at slightly less rpm. So do I AND I'd like the speedometer to be a tad bit closer, so I'll order this mod Friday. But as a riding around town, short trip on the slab bike, the 900 is fine as is.

You could get a different/higher 4th gear for VW Beatles aftermarket. I knew a couple guys that loved them. VW never incorporated it in production though.

I have just recently found and joined this forum. Needless to say there is a lot of good information out here. I am going to order the pulley when I get back from work. I had considered going with the 200 tire but with the cost of this tire I figured I would do better with this modification and also save money in the long run.

Thanks to all who have had inputs on this!
