At what RPM do you shift? What RPM to you cruise at? I ask because previously I was riding a military bike which had loads of tourque and only four gears. Running at high PRMs was unnecesary. Now I am riding a ZZR and from talking to folks it seems to me they are running at pretty high RPMs. I am shifting at about 7000 my tach claims to read line at 13,000.

It all comes down to personal preference really. You can shift gears and cruise at any speed you want - just depends what you want out of the bike.

If what you're asking is where the powerband is at, on your bike it is probably in the 8 to 12 K range.

Personally, I keep it around 4k whenever I can, since that's close to the middle of my power band. But I'm riding a twin. A 4cyl makes power at higher RPMs

On the street I usually ride at 3k, I'm not very aggressive on my little ninja and I like gas conservation :]
